Welcome to the Village of Waterford, NY. Located in Saratoga county and with a population of approximately 2000 residents. Incorporated in 1794 it is the oldest continuously incorporated Village in the United States. Located on the convergence of the Mohawk & Hudson Rivers, it is considered the Gateway to the Erie Canal systems.
The site of the village was occupied as "Half Moon Point" in the 17th Century. It was then in the territory of Mahican natives. Waterford derives its name from being a “ford” or crossing between Peebles Island and the mainland Waterford. |
